Re: Collection Updates
Sounds really good, less than a dollar per titles is a reat deal. Can I ask what 'The Lions' is?

Re: Collection Updates
Lions Clubs are part of community life, in the cities and in the country. Clubs are easily identified by their distinctive Logo, the trademark of the Association, and the 'We Serve'; motto seen on road signs throughout the country.
Membership is open to all people of the community in good standing.
Clubs may either provide service or raise money for their community.
Most of the money raised goes back into the community, either directly or indirectly through National and International Projects

Good pick-ups there Bullruckle.
I have only ever seen bits-and-pieces of BOOGIE NIGHTS (mainly Heather Graham's )
I wonder how much difference there is between the VIDEO STANDARD and VIDEO ESSENTIALS LDs..? Perhaps someone in the know can inform us?

Hi All,
newbie to the forum, but veteran home theater and laserdisc fan. Seeing all these images of very impressive collections and setups compelled me to take photos of some of my discs. I'll gladly upload further detailed/alternate images and/or info if requested. Hope you enjoy.

Nice to meet you bullruckle, "The Game" is a fave of mine (big David Fincher fan). I have approx. 100 purchases in my collection, not a vast amount because i was quite selective back in the day and saved up for the special editions. No LDDB a/c yet unfortunately, maybe soon.

Re: Collection Updates
Hi elwood,
Just as i suspected, some mighty fine titles in your collection. Very smart indeed.
There is just something about the LD special editions that really are special.
I really love your JFK set, it being one of my favourite movies of all time.
Great titles.

A great event for film fans.
It surely was.
I was really glad we met too! Who would have thought it...another LD fan! We are like the Humpback Whale and the Panda.
Hanging on by our fingernails (not that they have fingernails or...oh you know what I mean!)
How did you do there? Did you meet who you were after?

LOL!
Good to have met you too, always enjoyable to speak to a fellow endangered species! Didn't go for the signers but to look round the stalls. Thought the Friday "preview" idea was good, especially as i had the Collectors film convention the next day.

Nothing too impressive, but...
Today I picked up another free lot. There was a player and 7 discs.
The player is a Sony MDP-455. Not a great player I know but the price was right and the thing is still in it's original box, it was taken out and modified for AC-3 output, used 2 or 3 times and put back in the box and into storage according to the gentleman I got it from. I look forward to testing it out against my Pioneers. Something to bide the time until I can get a 703 or 704 for a reasonable price anyway.
The discs are:
Speed - Widescreen
Braveheart - Widescreen
Toy Story - Letterbox
Jurrasic Park - Letterbox
Tex Avery's Screwball Classics
The Abyss - Pan & Scan Special Director's Edition
Take 5 II AV Sampler Disc
Soon I am going to start an lddb list, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Well done there.
You cannot complain if the price is right, I always say At the very least you have an AC3 machine, Dolby Digital capable. Nice!

Re: Collection Updates
I have picked up a few discs in the last few weeks. I have got
Tremors Signature Collection
Highlander (10th Anniversary triple gatefold)
The Guardian (NTSC, Directed by William Friedkin)
Commando (NTSC)
Innocent Blood (NTSC)
I have also bought ID4 Special Edition and Enter the dragon, both NTSC but they havent arrived even though they were supposedly sent several weeks ago and the seller isnt replying to my emails. Hopefully Ebay will sort that out.

Re: Collection Updates
Nice pick up MNIA. I really like the Highlander 10th Anniversary cover and Commando is an awesome movie.
Tough I was meant to be saving for my upcoming wedding, I couldnt resist bidding on this lot a couple of weeks back.
Lot 1
No OBIs unfortunately, which is a shame as the Beach's OBI looks sweet with the cover. Also picked up the special edition of Bedknobs and Broomsticks which is a childhood favourite of mine.

Latest Arrivals....
These are all from a member of this forum, whom gave me all this...
FOR FREE!!!
A boxed and prectically brand new PIONEER CLD-2950 with remote and manual. It is not AC3 modified but it is spotless and fully functional.
A boxed and practically brand new PIONEER DVL-909 with manual. No remote with this one, but I already have a 909 so no problems there. It too is spotless. I have not tried it fully but there appears to have been a region freeing modification as printed instructions have been included in with it.
Also a part of the donation to my cause was some 50 Laserdisc titles. Now they were not all to my personal taste and some were repeats of my existant titles anyway, but I still ended up with almost 30 new (to me) films....
FREE ALL TOTALLY FREE I TELL'S YA!!!
And these I bought from eBay recently...
I had to replace my old copy of GATTACA as is was seriously rotted. This one is pristine and was only 99p!
