Hi I'm CricketDiane Empty Hi I'm CricketDiane

Post  cricketdiane Tue Sep 27, 2011 5:10 am

About ten years ago, I had a roommate that left to wash clothes and never came back. He drove to his Mom's house about 500 miles away and let her wash them. Regardless, I have this massive collection of laser discs and they are sitting in my Mom's basement where they should not be. I joined this forum in the hopes that these laser discs can get in the hands of people who actually use them and enjoy them.

There are a lot of them - several boxes in fact. I'm going to get a list of what they are and maybe put the list on the sell forum or try to figure out what to do with them. These laser discs aren't useful sitting in my parents' basement obviously. And, I know barely enough about them to do anything but this.

So, that's why I am here. Glad to find there are people who still like laser discs. Years ago, I noticed that they are really very wonderful, but I have no way to play them.

Hey CD, nice to meet you. So were the LDs your room mates then? Seems a lot to leave behind.
    Looking forward to the list.

    Where are you situated?

Hi I'm CricketDiane Empty Yes, roommates' collection

Post  cricketdiane Tue Sep 27, 2011 7:53 pm

Yes, the LDs were roommates' collection but he left in like, 2001 and I've been toting them around ever since.

Have to go over to Mom and Dad's to make the list. Last photo I tried taking, shows about thirty in that one box. Anyway, aside from "In Like Flynn" - the photos didn't really do very well. So, I'm going over there in the next couple days to get photos and make a list.

You cannot begin to imagine how nice it is to find people who actually know what a laser disc is . . .

Forgot to mention that I am in Atlanta, GA on the northwest side of town.

Haven't decided how to do this yet - Mom & Dad brought the boxes over and this is the start of the list. I should probably start putting them on a post somewhere else, maybe on the for sale part.

Here are the first few that I wrote down so far -

"Our Man Flint" (widescreen, book-style cover)

    Star Trek TV
    "Return to Tomorrow"
    "Patterns of Force"

    Star Trek TV
    "Menagerie I, II"

    Star Trek TV
    "Dagger of the Mind"
    "The Carbomite Maneuver"

    Star Trek Tv
    "Journey to Babel"
    "Friday's Child"

"2010 - The Year We Make Contact"

    "The Boat" / "Das Boot"

    Neil Diamond
    "The Jazz Singer"

"The Towering Inferno" (widescreen edition / 2 discs)

    Star Trek Original Pilot (unopened)
    All-color Collector's Edition

    Star Trek TV
    "Assignment Earth"
    "Spock's Brain"

    Star Trek TV (unopened)
    "The Enemy Within"
    "Mudd's Women"

    "Top Gun"

Star Trek TV (second copy of this one)
    "Journey to Babel"
    "Friday's Child"

    Star Trek TV
    "The Man Trap"
    "Charlie X"

there are a bunch more - I just started making the list. And, if anyone knows what the best way to do this would be - please let me know. Should I just make a post on the sale forum with the entire list or parts or what?

Welcome to the forums. I'm not too far from you in Birmingham, Alabama, and may also be interested in a list of titles.

    Hi I'm CricketDiane Empty hi

Post  cricketdiane Fri Sep 30, 2011 6:48 am

It is nice to hear there is someone nearby, but at the same time - it is really tempting to say, hey come get these things and sort this out, would you -

I guess that isn't a good plan. And it is quite a list. I started putting it on the "for sale" column as a post, then made the rest of the list on 3x5 cards (of what Mom and Dad brought over, but that isn't all of them.)

The covers of some of them are absolutely buggared - what can be done with those? They are probably wonderful still to watch them, but apparently three of the James Bond ones, for instance, are now without a cover.

Hmmmm. Still, I'm going to finish the list over on the "for sale" part of the forum, although that might not really be where I should be putting it since I don't know what I'm doing. There were a couple more Star Trek TV titles, too and as I said, apparently not all of the laser discs that were in the boxes are here, because there are some titles that I remember which weren't among these.

Well, let me see what I can do to put the rest of this list on that post.
