Collection Updates - Page 6 Empty Arrived today...

Post  DGTWoodward Wed Apr 06, 2011 1:43 pm

At last, the final part of the anthology...

    BATMAN & ROBIN AC3

I'd tried to get it before but got taken for a ride from a non responsive seller and eventually had to claim my money back.

And now this has a rrived for the princely sum of 99p. It cost more to post it than to buy it. Go figure Rolling Eyes!

Still it is in pretty good shape as you can see, despite two attempts to deform it by Royal Mail. And this one is ROT FREE! YAY ME!!!

    Really Pleased with these....

    The Relic.
    Lost Highway.
    Howard The Duck.

The two Japanese titles are spotless and could literally have just come out of their shrink-wrappers.

    Very nice pick ups DGTW.

I know what you mean about Japanese Laserdiscs looking as new. So many times I've found a LD in some junk shop over here, that has been opened at some point, but looks in such great shape you have to wonder how many time the original owner took it out of the packaging.

Howard the Duck has some sweet cover art hey. Just recently purchased my second copy of that bad boy Wink

I love Howard The Duck. Are you gonna get Lea Thompson to autograph it?

I'll say, in terms of Back To The Future autos, The lovely Ms Thompson will hopefully sign the sleeve and a Limited Edition 1:43 Delorean diecast nmodel (along with Chris LLoyd on it too). See it here...

There is a link to a very short review by me on that page too.

Great pickup DGTW! I love Singing in the Rain. Awesome movie.
What's the soundtrack like on that bad boy? Mono, Dolby surround, AC3?

If you ever have the time, I'd love to read one of you sweet reviews on this movie/disc.

No it's not the first, the first LD Box Set was also the first LD ever released, Jaws. Though it was also available in sleeve, the original release was a box set. Star Trek: The animated series was released in 1990, that's after Criterion's first box sets.

    Nice one the DGTW.
If I'm not mistaken that copy of Rabid went for pretty cheap did it not? I only ask because I seem to remember a copy of that going for like $200us a while back on ebay.

Yes it was not too bad....$25.50

It makes a difference if the auction ends mid afternoon, mid-week than one that finishes early evening on the weekend. I did not think that it would!

'Pick your time and bid to your maximum, once you are there...don't go higher'

...was basically the lesson I have learned over years of eBay purchases.

Mind you, this one has taken 3 weeks to get here! I was starting to get a little concerned.

Got this lot over the weekend:

    Lot 1
    Lot 2
    Lot 3
    Lot 4

The virtual drug LDs are pretty cool. come with 2 pairs of clear 3D glasses that give a pretty cool effect. Also looking forward to hearing what Hercules has to offer in the DTS soundtrack department.

Nice haul. I really like DTS LDs, it's just that extra layer of 'special'

Also BR, I think that I have only ever seen OBIs that run down the spine of a cover, or are in just one corner...never across the bottom, is that usual/unusual?

Just scanning my collection, it seems the Obi across the bottom is only used with box sets over here.

    Heres a few more examples:

    Indiana Jones
    Dirty Harry
    Lethal Weapon
