Well, to be honest with you, it's been ages siince I have seen it! I remember it as being a tragic fantasy of lost love...typically 80's really, but I recall it being an enjoyable yarn. But with Rutger Hauer and Michelle Pfiffer in it I shall enjoy catching up with it again.

This was one of my most recent aquisitions, the condition of which was pristine!

I have only been collecting for one and a half years so far and I'm very proud of the amount japanese anime I've managed to get hold of.

There's a few full sets, plenty of short OVA's and stand alone films.
It makes you realise how popular the format was in Japan. Most of the releases were japan only.

Just tagged this beast on the 'Bay. Will I now actually be able to use the £30 Phillips RGB lead I bought years ago, or was that just the USA version ?

Pioneer DVL-909 Lasredisc Player.

According to the write up it has already been made multi region (although I think the seller mis-understood the question).

I also have the 909 as my main player. Using it almost every day. It is region free but you need to change the region in a hidden menu. Most of my DVD's are region 2 so I just leave it set to that.

Its a fantastic player and very reliable. the only thing I don't like is the remote. No jog wheel and half the buttons covered by a plastic flap (which I removed)

Oh, it just gets better 8bit, Originally I asked if my collecting it was OK and he said "yes" (as most people do - I am sure thay wouldn't trust the post anymore than I do).

As it turns out, on Saturday the seller is on his wat from Gloucester to Leicester with a stop off in Warwick on the way.

As I live in Warwick...he has offered to deliver it to my door!

Great result on that then. When ever I find something collection only I have a long drive ahead of me.

I too usually have a distance to travel when making acollection too. I have been to London S.E. 19 for a collection of 54 discs, and once to Leeds to collect my second 925 (easily a 2hr drive from Warwick).

Luckily, wifey not only indulges me my mad moments, but as she loves our home-cinema as much as I do, she happily joins in with them.

As for your claiming my 'spare 925...mate, if it were fully functional I really would let you have it for the price I paid for it (don't believe in making money out of a bunch of like minded mates). But the reason I ended up bidding for and getting the 909 was because the second 925 had started making a few strange noises. It still works and gives great pictures but it grinds a bit as you boot up a disc. Once it is at speed it is great, but it sounds like it is having a job to get there, know what I mean? I am afraid that it is now placed in the official "still works but is now for spare/repair" department.

However, I did find this which may interest you....

This seems to be quite a nice little lot if you are in the market for one, even at the "Buy Now" price.

You can say that again Marc,

The trouble with how I have been picking up the majority of my titles is with the flipping dupes! I have 2 copies of the vastly inferior DIEHARD III PAL version, 2 PAL ID4s, one PAl Mish Imp and one NTSC 5.1 one. And so it goes on.

Still, now I have my set up, I wouldn't miss it for the world!!!!!

I'm sure I'll find a good working D925 someday. I'm hardly struggling with the 909 of course, its a great player.

It is in very good condition. I mean, it has the usual signs of minor shelf wear, but happily it is well within the bounds of the easily acceptable, and the actual discs are very clean and free of scrathes. I still gave them a thorough clean but that's just a good and regular habit I have now developed anyway, regardless.

The Connery sets are nice. They should have carried it on for the other movies and actors. btw what do you use to clean your discs?

Yes the are really, and at £4 for three (of the best Connery and maybe even all Bond) films...It is a great price too. They look very cool sitting next to each other in my small (but growing) boxed set section.

When it comes to cleaning, I tend to go old school. I use Isopropyl Alcohol because it does not harm the surface of the disc and it dries without leaving a residue. I apply it gently (from the centre of the disc outward toward the edges) using a smooth non-shedding soft cotton cloth. I have several very soft cotton handkerchiefs that have bravely sacrificed themselves for the cause:D!

It should be OK to buy Isoprop Alc still, from a good pharmacy (forget the biggies, they are usually rubbish for this sort of thing) but you do need to make it clear that it is for cleaning optical media. It is not cheap either, but it is good.
