I moved here about four years ago and a few months after I bought my first ever Laserdisc. It was the Terminator 2 special edition box set and it was ridiculously cheap, something like 250 yen. I didn't have a player or any interest in LD's at the time, but for that price I couldn't not buy it.
Who knew that 4 years later I'd have a crazed passion for laserdiscs with a growing collection of 800.
