LaserDisc collection videos
I found that there are lots of LaserDisc collections and updates on Youtube, but they can be difficult to find, so I thought it would be a good idea to add them to this thread. Here are some that I have found:

Re: LaserDisc collection videos
My word!!!!
The one thing that I notice about all of these people - I don't know...is it just me? - they clatter their discs about like a bunch of old dinner trays.
Also, they hold the covers by the bottom corners, where the weight of the actual disc will easily bend the sleeve over, forever damaging it.
And...I know that I cannot be the only one that buys PVC protective sleeve covers for my Laserdsics...can I? Yet not one of them has one single protective cover on them.
Am I just over protective? Is it verging on OCD? It may be, but I swear that every single on of those videos gave me reason to cringe, even if one of the reasons was "My Laserdisc's" Nice funky 8-bit music though, it reminds me of my Spectrum.
Thanks for posting them though

Re: LaserDisc collection videos
PYC and any sort of paper aren't really friends if I say so. If you let a box for a Nes-game stay in a PYC-condom (or whatever you want to call it) in about a year and don't touch it the slightest bit, you'll notice that the colors on the box are much poorer and the PYC gets some sort of mark of it. It would be easier just to show examples of it then trying to tell it by words. That goes to pretty much every kind of paper and PYC, so that's one reason for me not to use it. Sure, I keep all of my LD's in a big box that I'm very careful with and my rarest/most expensive LD's, I keep in another type of plastic sleeve to protect them as much as possible. But I don't feel like putting every single LD in that kind of plastic sleeve, so I just let the LD's be as they are. Nothing lasts forever anyway.

Re: LaserDisc collection videos
yeah, and when they compare the disc to a Cd and put the cd on the fucking laserdisc.
how you see people treat their laserdiscs on youtube and you are like, you fucking idiot.
I only pic my covers up by the sides very carefully and take time to get the disk out so i wont scratch it.
Anyone know where to get the plastic jackets laserdiscs come in? -the thicker ones not that thin plastic shit. i want to protect some of my rarer laserdiscs better. they are in super thin plastic but thats not protection enough i think.
it also annoys me how some of the laserdisc videos on youtube they think there so awesome cause they have a laserdisc, no your not cool, your only cool i'm not cool earthier look at me i don't have any rare discs as in like $100 or $300 + discs if you have some of the rare discs in good condition then yeah you are cool. just show the dam discs don't make a vid on how cool am i cause i got a laserdisc.

I get mine from these folks. They do single, gatefold and the inner plastic-lined sleeves (to replace the 'elephant condoms' you can sometimes get with a disk) and are very good and quite quick....
PVC and Inner Laserdsic Protective Sleeves...
...I have bought from them several times.

Actually, PYC isn't good for any kind of paper at all. I would never let my LD's be in these kind of sleeves. I'm careful of them, but they won't look better if you keep PYC around them all the time so keeping them in plastic sleeves isn't really a better idea then keeping them just as they are.
Also, if I were you, I would try to change a bit on the attitude. It's not like most people would appreciate being called idiots, especially not on a forum like this.

Re: LaserDisc collection videos
one of those videos is mine but that was a couple years ago I think and I have certainly learned how to handle LD's now
I have always been extra careful when handling them out of the case.
Have also removed the piece of furniture out of the shed and put the LDs on display and also on better shelving

You know, I have to say...it seems that (on going through them again) yours was the only on I did not see! I must have accidentally passed over it and clicked the next one on.
As it turns out, you are the most gentle on your collection of any other person there.
No offfence intended, mate.

Re: LaserDisc collection videos
thank you.
I'm even more careful when loading a disc into the machine, playing them and using the functions of my players
I soon learnt that these machines are not like a VHS where you can push stop then eject immediately after and have the tape out in 5 seconds. you gotta push pause, then stop. wait for up to 30 seconds for the machine to auto reverse (as I call it) the disc back to side One and come to a stop and no longer make noises before eject is pushed. usually I give it another few seconds

Re: LaserDisc collection videos
Yeah definately the best avatar I've had on any forum
THE CAR is very dear to my heart. A movie I first saw in the late 70's on TV and took 20 years to get a widescreen version of it thanks to Anchor Bay's USA NTSC VHS release in 2000/2001
It was about to be released on LD by the roan group in 1999/2000 but troma bought them out just before its release thus just missed out. Am majorly pissed about that
