Yesterday, I bought two frames that are in the same size as LP-covers (12") for a cheap price and I decided to use two Laserdiscs in the frames. The results? You have it here. I think both of them look excellent and I'm planning to buy another two frames for The Seventh Seal and Hard-Boiled. Does anyone else use Laserdiscs in frames?

I bought the frames from the owner of an arcade in Stockholm. They also have some Laserdiscs on their wall and all of them are related to videogames, they also have some vinyl records with videogame music too. Here's a picture of it.

EDIT: My frames are up now.

Welcome back mate, you've been gone for a while!

Those covers look great! But that's the thing about LDs isn't it? you could never do that with DVD cover art, could you?

Very smart mate, well done. But erm...what have you done with the actual Laserdsics from the covers?

They really tie the room together.
Do the frames come with UV glass? It would be a shame if those great sleeves were to fade.

They're in the actual sleeves, but don't worry. These frames are thick enough and they won't damage the discs. I was planning to have my Japanese copy of Hard-Boiled in one of those, but it's a quite thick gatefold and it was pretty much impossible to make it fit so I decided to use The Killer instead. There is a UK-edition of Hard-boiled with only one disc, maybe that would be a better idea.

LaFong: I'm not sure but I don't think there's any problem. I pretty much always use curtains and you rarely see sunlight in here. The sun is pointing at my frames only in the early morning, about 04:30-05:00 AM or something like that if I don't use my curtains,

That's great. (The Japanese "Hard Boiled" -yes, that's a good one.)
If I were to frame an LD I think one of the first ones I'd pick would be this Japanese release of Brian G. Hutton's "Where Eagles Dare".

Yes that is a great cover! Aside from being a kick-arse movie in itself. Great music too!!

Great to know there still are fans of this picture around, and of the score, as well.
I had the great pleasure of meeting the late Mr. Ron Goodwin who composed the Where Eagles Dare score, and who also did Hitchcock's Frenzy and the Miss Marple pictures with Margaret Rutherford. He was a fine composer, a modest, gracious man and he had no pretences about his work. Amazing considering how fantastic his work is. When those drums start in the distance over the Alps as Where Eagles Dare opens and the plane emerges from behind the peaks... now THAT'S an OPENING!
I saw a 70mm blow-up of the picture, and it rivals most movie-watching experiences I've had.
... oops, I'm going on and on here...

Hey, you're allowed, I'm moderator and I say so! We just love our movies and how we watch them so it's all good here LF. Very Happy

You have met Ron Goodwin! Now that is seriously cool. It is much easier to meet the star from in front of the camera and rather rarer to meet the stars from behind the camera, so well done there mate.

I am seriously big on films and TV and I have met one or two from behind the scenes...from some pretty big productions too, but I have never met a composer as yet.

    Well done.

It's always a thrill to meet some of the great craftsmen and artists behind your favourite films - even more so when you discover that they are lovely, open people graciously willing to share their stories and knowledge.

Quite right. My favourite three were Gerry Anderson, Ray HarryHausen and George Romero.

All three proved to be the most modest of men. Particularly Ray, who is a living legend amongst FX people. I think that RH underestimated just how popular he was going to be at the event I attended and seemed a little overwhelmed.

George was great, chatty and enthusiastic, as you might imagine, talking with enormous vigour about his past and future projects, and BONUS, he did a line that I had written especially for him in a 'Living Dead' tribute movie I will be filming next year.

Gerry Anderson was so quiet and unassuming. I just had to apologise to him about THUNDERBIRDS getting taken away from him and turned into that "...piece of crap" as he calls it. He was genuinely appreciative of the sentiment, even if he must've heard it a million times before.

Some really talented pioneers in the field and they were approachable and happy to talk.

A tribute to Romero's original "Night", you say... It sounds cool, even though I'm not exactly sure what a tribute movie is. (Perhaps I will after you next post).
Yes. Mr. Harryhausen was a darling and he took a keen and caring interest in young filmmakers/FX people trying out stuff and finding their way, -as well as sharing stories with fans he met.
