Came across this vid totally by accident. Even though LaserDisc is described as "silly little format" - obviously the first two words are an error as the opposite is true - it's cool that retrofix got a mention.

How insular....
It made me laugh, that laserdisc was not a success becaue it failed in north America? I wonder if he realises just how wrong he is, and exactly how many American NTSC discs there were.
That is the trouble though... people will see that and that will be all that they see. They will not realise that LD is having a little bit of a resurgence this past year, how many titles are being sold on places like eBay and how much in cost a half decent machine will set you back now.
But, yes, we did come out of that very well indeed.
And, I think he must've been paid by the word.

Maybe hes practicing to do the terms & conditions for commercials. Either that or his one and only DV tape was running out.

Many of his statements are true unfortunately (except "silly little"). In North America LD failed in part because of pricing (lower VHS prices) but also because most people in the US didn't "get it". With todays awareness and diversity in electronics, laseridsc if remarketed, would take off and fly just fine. It's a purist format for movie buffs and just plain cool for audiophiles.

Hi Earthtime. I have just watched part 1 of your youtube pieces. I don't have time to watch them all at the moment, but the first one is very good, natural. I shall catch the rest later.
Well done.

Silly little format my butt.
The greatest Home Theatre/Cinema/Home Video format ever released PERIOD!!!!
Haha anyhow. I'm glad it wasnt a mainstream format in Australia, USA and many other countries
Makes it something real special compared to the common as horse shit other formats.
