    PIONEER CLD-D925 LASERDISC PLAYER HELP.

    Post  Hemispheres2112 on Wed Jun 15, 2011 2:14 pm

Hi, I recently bought a CLD-D925 LD player and upon arrival have found that the little bracket (I think its called a VNL1700 M HOLDER) that is attached to the motor to move it along the track on the bottom is completely broken and the cogs were loose. Determined to fix the thing, I managed to find this:

    http://www.chsinteractive.co.uk/elec...lder-denon.htm

Apparently the Denton La-2300 was a clone of the Pioneer CLD-D151 which uses the same Motor Holder as my CLD-D925. I've ordered one anyway in the hope that its the thing I am after. Does anyone know if I'm correct in thinking this? - Thanks,

    Dan.

    Hi

I had exactly the same issue with the same model. I bought it on ebay and it was damaged in transit as the bracket that holds the cogs onto the laser assembly is extremely fragile. I was never able to get mine properly fixed and settled on a Pioneer CLD 2950.

Best of luck with fixing it.

Ah dammit, unlukcy. Did you have a go at fixing it or just not bother after seeing how flimsy the bracket is?

I basically scoured the internet for places that will fix it, there are a few Pioneer authorised service centres that do fix LD but not here up north.

I think this link is correct http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/content/support/support/service.html

I found a forum for vintage electronics and a local enthusiast and TV engineer tried to fix it for me. They got the motor back on its track and it moved but damaged discs so I didnt bother any further as I got tied up trying to get a refund and a new machine.

Thats unfortunate. I did manage to fix mine with superglue but it was in such a fragile state that the motor couldn't withstand turning the laser upside down to read the Bside of the disc.

I did manage to find this http://www.donberg.co.uk/catalogue/audio_spares/pioneer_audio_spares/piac_199.html

Pretty damn pricey for what it is though.

at that price it might be worth picking this up

Alternatively you could contact Pioneer directly and see if they can provide the part you need.

Oh wow, good find. Pity I only need the tiny piece of plastic from it. I never thought to contact Pioneer directly and I've no idea why?! I'm going to do that now.

How is your CLD-9250 player, anyway? Does that play PAL/NTSC discs too?

The 2950 is awesome. From what I can gather its almost identical to the D925 except it doesn't have the 5.1 surround sound functionality without modification.

I don't have a surround sound setup anyway so I am happy without it.
